With so many products available, and a new trend or fad every week it can be hard to know what you need or don’t need in your skincare regime. While we all have different skin types and issues there are some basic skincare building blocks that should suit just about everyone. For products to be most effective, they do need to go on in the right order. Basically start with a nice clean base and apply products in order of texture, thinnest to thickest. Just choose the products that are right for you and get ready to glow!
Step 1 - Cleanse
Start the day right with a high quality cleansing oillike our WildCrafted Organics Neroli Cleansing oil ( which smells incredible) or the Mara Algae Enzyme Cleansing Oil to lift away makeup, grime, sunscreen, dirt, and pollution. Spread 1-3 pumps of cleansing oil over your face, massage in gently for a minute or two, and then wipe away with a warm, wet face cloth.
At night – if you have worn makeup and SPF during the day, you may want to do a double cleanse. Start with your oil cleanser and follow up with a water based cleanser as your 2nd step.
Step 2: Tone
Your lovely clean skin is now ready to drink in a nourishing toner or mist. A Mist or toner can provide nutrition and hydration to balance and sooth the skin. Although this step is often overlooked, it’s really one of the best things you can do for your skin. A mist can also be great to keep in your bag in case you need a little refresh through the day. Tip- keep them in the fridge during summer for an extra refreshing boost.
(You could try the WildCrafted Organics Wild Rose Botanical Mist or the Pur Earth Sambac Botanical Mist.)
Step 3: Serums
Serums are potent elixirs with a small molecular structure to penetrate the deepest layers of your epidermis—and their targeted formulas are designed to address specific skin goals or concerns. Just choose a pure, botanical serum that’s right for your skin type and apply it after toning or misting, allow a few minutes for it to absorb before moving on to the next step. Some options here are a Vitamin C serum, Hyaluronic acid, a B3 serum.
( I love the WildCrafted Organics Illuminating C Complex – great for brightening and anti-ageing)
Step 4: Eye Cream
The delicate tissue around our eyes can require a little extra TLC and is often one of the first place we notice signs of ageing. A good eye cream can help awaken and brighten your under eye area. If you suffer from puffiness around you eyes in the morning, something like the Rose Quartz De-puffing tool can be great to use under and over your brow bone in the mornings, these are incredible cooling and can help with lymphatic drainage around the eye area.
( Pur Earth Camomila Eye cream is lovely)
Step 5: Moisturise
This step both hydrates and locks in all the products you have applied previously. Skin just looks and feels so much better when it’s moisturized, and when you’ve taken all the previous steps, your skin is truly ready to reap the benefits.
Step 6: Sunscreen:
It may be the last step, but nearly any dermatologist will tell you that sun protection is the most important part of any skin-care regimen. Protecting your skin from UV rays can prevent skin cancer and signs of aging. Make sure to choose a clean sunscreen without all the chemical nasties.
So there you have it—skincare simplified. Six simple building blocks to create your optimal skincare routine, just tweak where necessary and choose products that are right for your skin type.
