The ancient Chinese beauty practice of Gua Sha has really taken the skincare community by storm, and for good reason. Gua sha has been practiced in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. The Gua sha tool was designed to have a firming, lifting effect on the skin. Besides improving overall health and radiance of the skin, gua sha has a multitude of benefits.

It's important to prep the skin with a facial oil to ensure your Gua Sha tool glides with ease and prevents tugging on the skin. Our favourite face oils to use with the Gua Sha are the Le Prunier Plum Beauty Oil ( this is an ideal facial oil for Gua Sha because it is lightweight, non-comedogenic, and nourishing for all skin types.) We also love the Shiva Rose Rose Oil.
How to use your Gua Sha:
Apply your favourite face oil to a clean and dry face and neck, after cleansing and misting. Using light pressure, massage across the face and neck using the below technique for at least one minute (3-5 minutes is ideal).
Forehead: Keep the tool flat against the face and begin with the forehead. Scrape in an upwards motion from the eyebrows to the hairline.
Cheeks: - Move to the cheeks and scrape in an outwards motion starting from the crease of the nose out to your ear.
Jawline: - Move to the jawline and use the end of the gua sha tool with the two curves. Start from the centre of the chin and scrape outwards to the ear. Gently massage the gua sha tool into the ear to release tension.
Under Eye: - For the under-eye area, very gently scrape the gua sha from the inner corner of the eye outwards to the temple. Because the area is so sensitive, it is important to only apply light pressure.
Neck: gently press at the base of the neck above collar bone and move in an upwards motion towards the jaw.
